2025, the new era of Xbox?
Could it soon be the end of the Xbox brand as we know it today? The end of consoles and especially this fight for exclusives? For many years, Microsoft’s strategy has evolved with removal of hardware , the cessation of production of physical gamesand the big one highlighting Xbox Game Passthe famous subscription service which is causing debate.
Lately it’s with the exclusives that Microsoft wants to put an end to . Several reports seem to indicate that the year 2025 should be a big year of change for Xbox. Recently, information from Windows Central further confirms this theory.
According to the media’s sources, which are generally very well informed regarding Microsoft’s plans, the American company is currently working on a cross-platform user interface : “Sources tell us that Microsoft is also working on a set of gaming APIs and UI features, called Project Rainway, which is a form of cross-platform Xbox guide menu. Microsoft took inspiration from the Battle.net social features found in Hearthstone, Diablo IV, and World of Warcraft, which let you share and communicate across multiple platforms. This means that for games running on platforms other than Xbox, they will still have an Xbox flavor and Xbox systems integrated into the game, perhaps even cloud saves..
A few days ago, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reiterated that Microsoft’s new strategy is to be able to make Xbox accessible to everyone. And that the real Xbox fans were the gamers who accepted and were happy to be able to play on Xbox everywhere. Moreover, it is with a bit of humor that Microsoft launched a new slogan for its console: “This is an Xbox”. Quite a funny way of making it clear that from now on, any devicecould be capable of running Xbox games, in particular thanks to Cloud Gaming.
