Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced today on Chinese social platform Weibo that he will deliver the company’s 2025 annual speech, titled “Change,” on September 25. The speech will detail the development of the Xring chip and Xiaomi’s automotive strategy. On the same day, Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 17 series, which will mark the global debut of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. By skipping the “16” series, the launch is positioned to rival Apple’s iPhone 17 series, signaling Xiaomi’s push into the high-end market. Additionally, the new Snapdragon chip is built on TSMC’s 3nm process and integrates Qualcomm’s second-generation Oryon CPU architecture. [Lei Jun Weibo, in Chinese]
