Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun on Tuesday announced the Xiaomi Electric Motor V8s as the winner of the 10 Million Technology Award, the company’s highest technical honor, for its outstanding performance in innovation, leadership, and influence in 2024. The engineering team behind the motor was awarded RMB 10 million ($1.36 million), according to the company. Over the past five years, Xiaomi has issued seven technology awards with financial rewards exceeding RMB 50 million ($6.82 million) in total. “As Xiaomi’s flagship technology in the automotive sector, the V8s is independently developed and produced by Xiaomi. The rotational speed of 27,200 rpm (revolutions per minute) makes it the fastest mass-produced electric motor in the world, ” Lei Jun said. [Lei Jun Weibo, in Chinese]
