Xiaomi on Wednesday promoted a new triple-fold smartphone patent, following Huawei’s launch of the Mate XT, the industry’s first triple-fold smartphone, last week. China’s National Intellectual Property Administration’s published patent shows that Xiaomi obtained a design patent related to triple-fold smartphone design having applied on December 21, 2022. The back of Xiaomi’s design features a horizontally arranged camera setup with three cameras and an LED flash, the patent revealed. In August, Xiaomi overtook Apple to become the world’s second-largest smartphone brand after Samsung, according to Counterpoint Research, though the report did not disclose specific sales numbers.
