The New York Yankees are one game away from the World Series after an exciting 8-6 win over the Guardians Friday night. After Cleveland took Game 3 of the ALCS, New York answered in a big way so as not to let the Guardians within reach.
Juan Soto started the Yankees off with a two-run home run off Gavin Williams in the top of the first inning. Five innings later, Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run shot off Cleveland reliever Cade Smith to extend the Yankees lead to 6-2. But in the seventh inning, Cleveland showed signs of life and brought the game within a score thanks to RBIs from José Ramírez and Josh Naylor. By the eighth inning, the game was tied.
But in the end, the Yankees closed out the game with two runs, including an RBI single from Gleyber Torres, against Guardians reliever Emmanuel Clase.
Saturday night’s contest will be a pitching duel when New York’s Carlos Rodón faces Cleveland’s Tanner Bibee at Progressive Field. The Yankees are early favorites heading into Game 5 as Cleveland faces elimination.

MLB game projections from THE BAT X
In the tables below, you’ll see details for each MLB matchup, then a lot of numbers (which are updated all day):
- “Moneyline” shows each team’s odds on BetMGM.
- “Implied Win%” is the chance a team has to win based on those BetMGM odds.
- “THE BAT X win%” is the chance a team has to win based on EV Analytics’ projections.
- “Cash Line” is how THE BAT X would price each team’s odds.
- “Value” is the percentage difference between the odds chances and our projections.
The higher the value percentage, the better — which you can easily see from the color coding from red (bad pick) through to green (good pick).
Note: On mobile, you may have to scroll to see the color-coded “Value” column on the far right of the first set of tables.
Another note: If you’re seeing old data or the tables aren’t showing up, you may need to “hard refresh” this page, or you may have an ad blocker or other software blocking the tables from loading.
