It’s not a joke: video games Shinobi by SEGA which was released in 1987 for the first time on the arcade machines will have the right to its adaptation into a film for the cinema. Lately, we can no longer count the number of adaptations of video games into films or series.
The Last Of Us, Tomb Raider, Fallout, Grand Tourism, Halo or even Unchartedadaptations are clearly on the rise. Fortunately for players, these adaptations are more and more qualitative thanks to the direct involvement of studios and developers. Obviously, this is not about to stop and even old sagas want to come back to the forefront, like Shinobi who will have the right to his film.
Shinobi on the big screen
Joe Musashi, the ninja from the Shinobi series will have the right to new hours of glory (we hope) with an adaptation of the game to the cinema. In the 90s, Shinobi clearly became a flagship license from the SEGA catalogmaking the heyday of the MegaDrive alongside Sonic the Hedgehog et Alex Kidd.
Although we do not have no more games since 2011the Shinobi series continued for several years on Game Gear, Saturn, PS2 and even the Nintendo 3DS. Recently, a new game was announced by SEGA as part of a project aimed at reviving old cult licenses of the firm including Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe or even Crazy Taxi. But that’s not all, obviously, Shinobi will even have the right to his transmedia projects.
