Ever find Google Search is difficult to navigate with lots of ads at the top of the results? Google wants to make search easier to navigate with a new design, including a button to hide all the ads.
Google Search will now begin to group all of its ads into one section, rather than individual headings for each result. They’ll be called “Sponsored results,” and a label will follow you down the page as you scroll to make it clear when they finish.
Once you’ve seen them, you can also hide them from your search results as you continue to navigate the page. This is a manual process for each search, and the button to do so appears after you’ve scrolled through the ads themselves.
The new button reads Hide sponsored results and it will collapse all of the text ads at the top of the page. You’ll find it at the bottom of all the ads, and you’ll be able to access them if you choose to press the button again. That may be helpful if you find one of the ads is the best option for your search.

The labeling appears for all elements that are paid for on the page, such as the Shopping widget at the top of search results. That will instead be called Sponsored products.
The new changes, including the button to hide paid results, is rolling out gradually and should appear in your own Google results soon.

VP of Product Management and Data Science at Google Ads, Omkar Muralidharan, says, “In our testing, we found that the new design helps people navigate the top of the page more easily. The new design keeps the size of ads the same and you’ll still never see more than four text ads in a grouping.”
Google’s results has become busier in recent years, especially since the brand introduced AI Overviews before the web links. Research in July suggested over a quarter of Google searches now end with the user clicking on the AI Overview.
Back in 2022, Google changed its wording from “Ad” to “Sponsored,” saying it wanted to make the nature of the paid placement clearer to users.
