Zoom to drop support for iOS 13 and iOS 14 soon – 9to5Mac

Heads up for readers whose corporate devices are stuck on older iOS versions: Zoom’s latest release notes say the app will soon end support for iOS 13 and iOS 14. Here’s what that means in practice.

As noted by MacMagazine, today’s Zoom update to version 6.5.10 includes the following release notes:

General features:
-Upcoming end of support for iOS 13 and iOS 14

Meetings features:
-Enhancements to joining personal meeting rooms

Although the company doesn’t offer a precise timeline, this means that the app will soon require iOS 15 or later. Fortunately, every iPhone that could run iOS 13 can also run iOS 15, so hardware compatibility shouldn’t be an issue.

The same goes for iPads. While the iPadOS release notes also mention the “upcoming end of support for iOS 13 and iOS 14,” it’s reasonable to assume this includes iPadOS 13 and iPadOS 14 as well. Here too, no devices will be left behind: all iPads that supported iPadOS 13 can also run iPadOS 15.

In the end, this is a software cutoff, likely due to a dwindling number of users still on older versions. Still, corporate devices are often locked to outdated software for various reasons. If that’s your case and you rely on Zoom for work, it might be time to call IT and finally get that long-overdue system update.
