10 devices Apple might launch next now that the iPhone 17 series is here

At its “Awe dropping” event last week, Apple unveiled its highly anticipated iPhone 17 series, which included an upgraded iPhone 17 with ProMotion, a redesigned iPhone 17 Pro with a prominent camera plateau, and a brand-new iPhone model for the first time in years, the iPhone Air.

The iPhone 17 series and the iPhone Air are all available for pre-order now and launch this Friday, September 19. While there is still a lot of excitement around the iPhone 17 series and the iPhone Air, there is also a lot of excitement about what’s next from Apple. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, there is still a lot in the pipeline from the Cupertino-based company that is expected to arrive over the next few months and in the new year, including several highly anticipated device refreshes that have not been updated in years. Without further ado, here are 10 devices to expect from Apple soon, now that the iPhone 17 series is here.

New Apple TV and HomePod Mini

The next Apple TV 4K could get a massive chipset upgrade

Apple last updated the Apple TV 4K all the way back in 2022, and this year it’s heavily rumored to finally get a long-overdue upgrade. According to Gurman, Apple’s update to the Apple TV 4K includes a “faster processor” and Apple’s new in-house networking chip, which debuted at the iPhone event with the iPhone Air, the N1. The all-in-one N1 chipset manages Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Thread connectivity, likely making the new Apple TV more efficient.

As for what the new Apple TV 4K’s processor will be, leaks suggest it will be powered by Apple’s A17 Pro chipset, which debuted with the iPhone 15 Pro/15 Pro Max in 2023. While it’s technically an older chip, that’s a significant upgrade for the Apple TV 4K, especially compared to the A15 Bionic in the current model. Gurman also reports the upcoming Apple TV 4K refresh will add support for new Siri and Apple Intelligence features that are expected to launch next year. Apple is rumored to launch the new Apple TV before the end of the year, so we might see it at an event in October or November. Additionally, a new HomePod Mini is expected to debut soon, with a faster chipset and possibly new color options.

M5 iPad Pro

The debut of the M5

The first device expected to feature Apple’s next-generation M5 chipset is the iPad Pro. The last iPad Pro refresh was in May 2024, when Apple launched the M4 iPad Pro. Some of the main features of the M4 iPad Pro are its thinner design and OLED display, which are both expected to carry over to the M5 iPad Pro.

Gurman reports that the M5 iPad Pro could arrive “as early as October.” Besides the new chipset, it is also expected to receive a camera upgrade, including a new portrait selfie camera along with the landscape selfie camera, making it easier to use the iPad Pro for FaceTime and video meetings in any orientation.

AirTag 2

Better tracking capabilities

Since its debut in 2021, Apple’s AirTags have become a popular way for people to track important items. Whether you’ve attached them to your backpack, luggage, wallet, or car keys, AirTags give you peace of mind by helping you find your belongings when you misplace them. A second-generation AirTag is rumored to launch this year, featuring improved range and more precise tracking thanks to Apple’s new U2 chipset, which recently debuted in the AirPods Pro 3.

M5 MacBooks and Vision Pro

With its M5 MacBook refresh, Apple might be adopting a different approach from last year. Although Apple released the M4 MacBook Pro in November 2024, it seems to be pacing itself for its next refresh and waiting until the new year to introduce the updated M5 MacBook Pro, according to Gurman.

So, if you were hoping for a MacBook Pro refresh this fall, you’ll have to wait until the new year. As for what to expect from the M5 MacBook Pro, it’s expected to be mainly a chipset upgrade with no major design changes. Apple’s significant MacBook Pro overhaul, featuring a thinner design and new OLED display, is reportedly coming in late 2026. Additionally, Apple is also expected to refresh the MacBook Air with its M5 chipset early next year. However, like the MacBook Pro, don’t expect any major design changes, just a chipset upgrade.

Besides the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air receiving an M5 upgrade, Apple’s Vision Pro headset is also rumored to get an M5 refresh sometime in 2026. Gurman reports that the design of the Vision Pro isn’t expected to change for this refresh (apart from a new headband), and that a “more substantial follow-up” to the Vision Pro, which is both “thinner and lighter,” is in the works for 2027.

New Studio Display

A mini-LED Studio Display could debut in 2026

Apple released the Studio Display, its 27-inch 5K Retina monitor, in 2022, and its 32-inch Pro Display XDR monitor in 2019. Given it’s been a while since both monitors debuted, it’s expected that a refresh is coming for at least one of them soon. Gurman reports that Apple is working on “two Mac external monitors,” with one of them expected to launch late this year or in the new year. As for what monitor is coming, leaks indicate it could be an updated Studio Display with Apple’s A19 Pro chipset, featuring mini-LED instead of LCD, and a 90Hz refresh rate (via MacRumors).

iPhone 17e

A mid-range refresh

Apple released the iPhone 16e in February, its mid-range iPhone with a more affordable price of $600, compared to the iPhone 17’s $800 price tag and the iPhone 16’s $700 price tag. According to Gurman, Apple is preparing to launch an updated model called the iPhone 17e, which could be equipped with the same A19 chipset as the iPhone 17. Whether there will be any design changes for the iPhone 17e, such as the addition of MagSafe — which the iPhone 16e lacks — is unclear at this moment.

Apple Smart Home Hub

It’s expected to debut with the new version of Siri

It was previously thought that Apple’s new smart home hub would launch in the spring this year. However, with Siri’s personalized AI features delayed until next year, the hub’s launch was also pushed back. According to Gurman, Apple’s new smart home hub is now expected to launch in spring 2026, alongside the next-generation Siri. As for what to expect from the new hub, its design is likely to resemble the iPad and possibly feature a spherical base to hold the screen, reminiscent of the design of the iMac G4. Rumors suggest that it will allow you to control all your smart home devices and come with a user interface featuring widgets to check the weather, view photo slideshows, and see upcoming calendar events, among other things. Overall, think of it as Apple’s take on the Google Nest Hub.
