The Dolby Theater in Hollywood welcomed many people on the night of March 15 to 16. Like every year, the Academy rained down awards. One Battle after another reconciled Paul Thomas Anderson with the Oscars, he who was often nominated, but never rewarded. The director and his film left with six statuettes, an impressive harvest while everyone gave Sinners big winner of the competition. There is also the coronation of KPop Demon Huntersan animation phenomenon which has taken its place at the top of Netflix’s historic podium.
One Battle after another
While Sinners was the big favorite, after his big success at the Golden Globes, it’s finally One Battle after another which was favored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Paul Thomas Anderson’s film was crowned “Best film” et “Best achievement”. The project also inaugurated a new category, that of best casting.

What is it about? A former revolutionary, Bob lives on the fringes of society with his daughter Willa. When an enemy resurfaces and his 16-year-old daughter goes missing, Bob must move heaven and earth to find her. For the first time in his life, he must accept the consequences of his past.
Where is it available? The film is not yet offered for streaming by subscription, it is nevertheless possible to rent or Buy it on a dedicated platform. Canal+ should offer it from March 27. Note that it is part of the Warner Bros library and that it should eventually, after 17 months, arrive on HBO Max. This release should however not take place before February 2027.
Sinners
Ryan Coogler can boast of having worked miracles with Sinners. The $90 million film grossed more than $369 million worldwide, becoming a clear success for Warner Bros. It was particularly the impeccable performance of Michael B. Jordan that allowed him to shine during this Oscar ceremony. We can also highlight the coronation of Ludwig Göransson with original music. He had already won two statuettes, the first from Coogler for Black Panther and the second for Oppenheimer in 2023.
What is it about? As they seek to free themselves from a heavy past, two twins return to their hometown to start afresh. During the opening night of their bar, a much more formidable evil power invites itself to the party and sows chaos. Our review.
Where is it available? Sinners joined the Canal+ catalog earlier this year. It is available for several more months.
Fainted
It’s pretty rare for a horror movie to make headlines, especially when it’s not from an acclaimed franchise. Yet, Fainted managed to shine at the box office and among critics like rarely before. Modest production by the director of Barbarousalready acclaimed by the press and the public, the project managed to exceed the $269 million in revenue worldwide.
What is it about? A small American town is struck by tragedy. All the children in the same class disappeared on the same night, at the same time with the exception of one student. The entire town is trying to find out who is behind this unexplained phenomenon. Quickly, the community’s attention turns to the teacher.
Where is it available? Évanouis has just joined the Canal+ catalog.
KPop Demon Hunters
Sony Pictures is the new cool kid in the animation department. After the success of Mitchells against the machines et Spider-man into the Spider-versethe studio made a splash this summer with the story of KPop singers who use their music to protect humanity from demons. With an accomplished style as much as a catchy soundtrack, the project created for Netflix had no trouble finding its audience. It even entered the history of the N rouge as the biggest English-speaking success in its history.
What is it about? Rumi, Mira and Zoey divide their time between sold-out concerts and battles against dark forces. When a new KPop group appears, our heroines are convinced that they represent a threat to humanity. They will have to question everything they thought they knew about demons to defeat them.
Where is it available? The film is available on Netflix. A sequel is in preparation.
Frankenstein
Guillermo del Toro loves monsters… and they look good on him. Almost a decade later The Shape of Waterthe director could have walked away with a new shower of rewards. It gave up its place as “Best Film” to One Battle after another but was not completely forgotten by the competition. As one might expect, the film starring Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac walked away with the technical awards, and in particular those for “Best Makeup” and “Best Costumes”.
What is it about? On a cold night at the North Pole, Captain Walton and his team have a strange encounter. He discovers a weakened and disillusioned man. Scientist, Victor Frankenstein tells his story, that of the creation of a monster which is now out of control.
