Alibaba on April 10 confirmed that HappyHorse was developed by the innovation unit under its Alibaba Token Hub, or ATH, and said the model is currently in internal testing. The company added that API access will open soon and described HappyHorse as part of a broader effort to explore new forms of AI-era interaction.
The disclosure also sheds light on the role of ATH, a new Alibaba business group set up in March under CEO Eddie Wu. The unit brings together Tongyi Lab, the MaaS business line, the Qwen unit, the Wukong unit, and an AI innovation unit, making HappyHorse one of the first high-profile model projects publicly linked to the new structure.
HappyHorse-1.0 had recently appeared anonymously at the top of several video model rankings, including Artificial Analysis’ AI Video Arena, where it ranked ahead of ByteDance’s Seedance 2.0, Kuaishou’s Kling AI, and Google’s Veo 3 Fast. Alibaba also said HappyHorse does not currently have an official website, after multiple unofficial sites surfaced online. [21st Century Business Herald, in Chinese]
