The AI start-up Shift has made a somewhat unusual offer to the residents of New York. Shift offers to clean apartments and houses for free. The idea behind it is that the human cleaners film themselves at work. This collects data that will later be used to train AI models and household robots.
Win-Win-Situation
“You get a spotlessly clean apartment. We get training data. Everyone wins,” writes the company behind the Aachen-based MicroAGI GmbH on its website.
It’s not a problem if the apartment is very dirty, according to the FAQ. Rather, demanding cleaning environments are particularly useful. However, the cleaners may refuse certain tasks if they do not feel comfortable doing them.
