The Alpine A110 will soon hand over to a fully electric third generation. If the change will certainly make fans scream, the French brand assures that the new opus will rival the Porsche 718 on the Nürburgring.
After 9 years of career, the second generation Alpine A110 is preparing to give up the apron. This is no news, the descent will be electric. And after a string of announcements, the coupe will finally make its first public appearance. The appointment is given at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 9. However, don’t expect to see the car in its final form, it will still only be a prototype. A foretaste, therefore, which will nevertheless give a good idea of what is to come in the coming months.
A sacrilege for purists, a revolution on the track
Already on a technical level, the future A110 will open a new chapter for the French brand. Completed, the platforms shared with Renault, the coupe will debut the Alpine Performance Platform architecture clad in aluminum to best contain the mass. Alpine states in this sense that the electric A110 “ will remain faithful to Alpine’s DNA while outperforming the best thermal sports cars of the moment “. The Porsche 718 is a prime target.
The Nürburgring in its sights: Alpine openly challenges Porsche
The Dieppe manufacturer adds that the electric A110 will even be faster than the German one on the Nürburgring. A feat when we know that Porsche remains a reference in the field. A miracle when we see that the French battery should be significantly heavier than the current model. Alpine focuses on optimal weight distribution, with two accumulators instead of one. The first pack will thus be placed behind the driving position while the second will go to the front.
Alpine’s technical tip to overcome the weight trap
With a 40/60 weight distribution between front and rear, the sports car promises unparalleled agility. Alpine is aiming for a maximum mass of 1,500 kg. And the power will also be there, with two electromotors each housed in one of the rear wheels. Thanks to Alpine Active Torque Vectoring inaugurated by the A390 SUV, the electric A110 will benefit from exemplary traction with a torque adapting every 10 milliseconds to the driving conditions.
See you in July: when will we discover the new A110?
A four-wheel drive version with three electric machines cannot be ruled out. The cumulative power could then exceed 500 hp. It is also possible that the autonomy reaches 500 km for good versatility. This last aspect will be reinforced by the 800 V architecture guaranteeing lightning recharge times. The electric Alpine A110 will probably be presented at the Paris Motor Show in October. Its marketing will be planned for early 2027.
