Launched in 2014 by the French startup Aemotion, this funny four -wheeled electric cart does not look like anything we really know. She leans in turns like a motorcycle, behaves with a handlebars, and transports two people one behind the other, a scooter way. The initial idea was simple: combine the agility of a two-wheeler with the safety of a closed cabin.
50 % motorcycle, 50 % car, 100 % practical
Ten years and seven prototypes later, the machine is ready for preproduction. Still without official name, it was presented recently during the Vivatec fair in Paris. Compact (2.35 meters long, 79 cm wide), light (about 250 kg with the batteries) and capable of spinning at 115 km/h, this electric micro-vehicle clearly targets the urban citys which have enough traffic jams.

On board, no steering wheel therefore, but a handlebar and a tandem configuration: the driver at the front, the passenger at the rear. Both are protected by a closed shell, glass doors and four -point safety belts. In the event of an accident, Aemotion promises a reinforced structure with elements of the “crash boxes” type and absorbent foams in EPP, ” comparable to a passive airbag ».
The machine is not content to be small. It leans in turns up to 35 °, thanks to a patented mechanism, for a more fluid pipe, even at high speed. It can circulate on a fast track, provided you have a B license and a few hours of additional training.
On the autonomy side, the basic version offers a fixed battery for 200 km. Two additional interchangeable modules offer 70 km each, for a total potential of 340 km. The 45 -horsepower electric motor, the details of which remain vague, should be enough for urban and peri -urban journeys.
A small storage space is planned behind the passenger, which can fold its seat to make way for 150 to 200 liters of loading. Sufficient for weekly races or a cabin suitcase.
Aemotion first aims at long -term rental, from € 200 per month, with insurance and maintenance included. Direct sale is not yet on the agenda. The first pre-series are expected at the end of the year, before a real planned launch during 2026. Large-scale production would only start after 2028.
With this microcar, Aemotion wants to provide its response to the problem of urban congestion. In Europe, a motorist spends an average of more than 200 hours a year trapped in traffic. A narrower, lighter, faster and faster vehicle could unclog saturated cities.
