Alan Wake II is one of the games best rated by the press and players. It owes it to its staging, its story, its gameplay and obviously its impressive graphics. On the PC, DLSS 3.5 allows you to enjoy the title in the best conditions by combining fluidity and image quality.
PS5 players must make a choice between 4K and 60 fps like on the majority of AAA on the console. Is the PS5 a game changer? Yes and no. Remedy says a little more about the different graphics modes of Alan Wake II available on PS5 Pro and there may be some disappointed.
PS5 Pro makes Alan Wake II look better, but you still have to choose between quality and performance
What is Alan Wake II worth on PS5 Pro? Remedy, developer of the already cult game released in October 2023, explains what is changing on the new console. There is still a Quality mode and a Performance mode, while Sony promised that players would no longer have to make a choice when the machine was presented.
On PS5 Pro, Alan Wake II Quality mode runs in 4K at 30 fps with ray-tracing, a technology absent on the base PS5. Gaming in 4K at 60 fps becomes possible thanks to Performance mode, but you will then have to ignore ray-tracing. “ Ray tracing has a cost. Each ray must be traced, and its impact assessed and shaded. Due to the nature of ray tracing, multiple rays must be traced to obtain noise-free images. Unfortunately, tracing and shading multiple rays per pixel is still generally too expensive », justifies the Finnish studio.

Remedy explains that Performance mode on PS5 Pro uses approximately the same image quality settings as Quality mode on the classic PS5, which is still a nice step forward. PSSR, a new AI upsacling technology reserved for the PS5 Pro, has allowed developers improve image sharpness and stability when moving in Performance mode.
Enough to convince players to rush to the PS5 Pro or the boxed version of Alan Wake II, released this October 22? Hard to say. Remember that a physical edition of the survival horror will be useless to you on PS5 Pro without the disc reader to be purchased separately. Also don’t forget that many games are optimized for the PS5 Pro, from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth to the highly anticipated Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
