Alibaba is set to unveil its first self-developed AI glasses this week, entering an increasingly competitive market, according to Chinese media outlet 36Kr. The wearable device includes core features such as a voice assistant, music playback, calls, real-time translation, and meeting transcription services. It also integrates deeply with Alibaba’s ecosystem, supporting the use of services including its navigation service AMAP, digital payment platform Alipay, and shopping site Taobao. The glasses will run primarily on Qwen’s large language model, with Quark providing domain-specific models in education and health. Two versions are expected: a standard AI glasses model plus an AI + AR model with a display. Both devices will use a dual-chip system featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 and BES2800 chips. Development for the glasses was led by Alibaba’s Tmall Genie and Quark AI teams, with Song Gang, formerly a lead architect for Huawei flagship phones, serving as the leader of the project.
