Amazon’s new Fire TV software redesign is making its way to users in the United States. The new streaming interface, revealed during CES 2026, is a free update that promises to boost the overall speed and make it easier to find what you want to watch.

The update revealed in January was built to help users cut down on that dreaded scrolling time when picking a show or movie. Often, by the time something’s agreed upon, the motivation’s gone and it’s time for bed. Amazon reckons this time is about 12 minutes on average and it’s actually getting longer due to the overwhelming choice users have from their various streaming apps.

“We designed the new Fire TV experience to help cut down on that time. Now it’s faster and easier to find movies, TV shows, sports, news, and live content across all your subscriptions,” Amazon said in a blog post. “That means when you browse movies, for example, you’ll see titles from all the apps you use.”

Speed of the interface is also key. The update is 20-30% faster systemwide, according to Amazon. That was achieved by rebuilding the underlying code to make everything a little more snappy. Amazon is letting users pin up to 20 apps to the homescreen (up from six), while there’s a new shortcut panel that offers access to the most used controls on the Fire TV. Alexa+ comes into it too, Amazon assures us, by helping narrow down viewing options.

The company adds: “Just tell Alexa what you’re in the mood to watch, who you’re with, or examples of actors or directors you like. Alexa will help you find something great to watch. You can also ask Alexa to add the title you see on screen to your watchlist…”

The revamp offers some fancy design tweaks, including improved layouts, rounded corners, redesigned colour gradients, updates typography and optimised spacing.

The rollout in the US begins on the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), and the Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series sets. More devices and other nations will be part of the next wave.
