Apple Refines iOS 26’s Control Center, macOS 26’s Finder Logo After Backlash

Apple introduced the next iterations of its operating systems earlier this month, and one of the biggest talking points was the new Liquid Glass design. While most users have yet to test the latest iOS software, the first images of its updated Control Center had drawn harsh criticism for having a rather translucent background.

Now, it appears as though Apple has heard and responded to those complaints. With iOS 26 beta 2, the iPhone maker has refined the Control Center’s design, adding a more opaque background so that users can clearly differentiate between Control Center options and the apps on the home page. The earlier design, as you can see in the images below, had almost merged the two layers.

Another design change that didn’t go over well with many Apple fans was the updated Finder logo in macOS Tahoe. For years, the logo has had two shades: dark on the left and light on the right.

With the macOS 26 beta 1, Apple reversed the position of the colors, but many didn’t like it. With the second beta, however, Apple has gone back to what Finder originally looked like. “That’s better,” said popular YouTuber MKBHD after Apple restored the original design.

Both iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe are currently in beta. A public beta is expected next month before the official stable rollout in September. If you are eager to try the latest operating systems, you can download and install the developer beta right away.

While Apple’s latest software focuses more on design and less on AI, shareholders aren’t happy. One of them has filed a class action lawsuit against the company for not yet releasing some of the Siri features announced at WWDC last year.
