Apple Reportedly Cuts Dozens of Jobs Across Its Sales Division

Apple is reportedly cutting dozens of sales jobs to eliminate redundancy, Bloomberg reports, citing people familiar with the development.

While the exact number of jobs eliminated is unclear, affected employees were notified in the last couple of weeks. Unlike layoffs at other tech giants, those at Apple have until Jan. 20 to find a new position within the company or leave with a severance package, the report adds.

Since Apple’s primary goal is reportedly to improve the way it presents its products to businesses, schools, and governments, eliminated roles include account managers serving these institutions, as well as employees who manage product demos and briefing centers for them.

“To connect with even more customers, we are making some changes in our sales team that affect a small number of roles,” an Apple spokesperson tells Bloomberg. “We are continuing to hire, and those employees can apply for new roles.”

One of the hardest-hit teams worked with the US Defense and Justice Departments, Bloomberg reports. They were already facing a tough time with the recent government shutdown and the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) spending cutbacks before that.

Several weeks ago, the iPhone maker also cut 20 sales jobs in Australia and New Zealand.

Sources tell Bloomberg that some of the laid-off workers claim the company is just trying to offload its sales responsibilities to third-party resellers.

Meanwhile, multiple tech behemoths have announced mass layoffs lately. Verizon laid off over 13,000 workers last week; Amazon confirmed 14,000 job cuts late last month; and Intel announced plans to reduce its headcount by 15% in June.
