Apple keeps a running list of products dubbed ‘vintage’ and ‘obsolete,’ and the latest additions to that list include the iPhone 11 Pro, Apple Watch Series 5, and more.

iPhone 11 Pro, Apple Watch Series 5, and more now considered ‘vintage’

Apple is generally known for making long-lasting hardware. But at a certain point, the company is unable to offer repairs or service parts for its older devices.

That’s where the company’s vintage and obsolete products list comes in.

On Apple’s website, you can find a full list of products that have been marked either ‘vintage’ or ‘obsolete.’

  • ’Vintage’ means it’s been over five years since the product stopped being available for sale
  • ’Obsolete’ means the product has hit the seven-year mark since being discontinued

What difference does it make? Obsolete products are no longer are eligible for servicing, while vintage ones are. Essentially, the vintage designation is a sign of the dwindling opportunity for repairs in the near future.

Today, the latest additions to Apple’s vintage list (via MacRumors) include iPhone 11 Pro, Apple Watch Series 5, 2020’s 13-inch MacBook Air with Intel, the iPad Air 3 with Cellular, and the last remaining iPhone 8 Plus model (with 128GB storage).

iPhone 11 Pro is perhaps the standout from the list, since it’s a model that still receives the latest iOS software updates. It is, however, the oldest iPhone model that can run iOS 26.

For now, users can still get iPhone 11 Pro repairs done through Apple. But being added to the vintage list means there are only two years left before the device is considered obsolete and becomes ineligible for servicing.
