As part of the marketing campaign to promote its new thriller Smoke, Apple has arranged for series writer and creator Dennis Lehane to host its first AMA on Reddit and answer your… burning questions. Here’s how to join in.
In the past, Apple has promoted AMAs with creators and authors like Dan Erickson (Severance) and Blake Crouch (Dark Matter). Now, it’s time for Dennis Lehane to step up to the keyboard and answer Redditors’ inquiries about his creative process, adapting stories across mediums, and more.
Here’s how he introduced himself on the AMA page:
I’m Dennis Lehane. I wrote for The Wire, published a few books (Shutter Island, Mystic River, Gone, Baby, Gone), and created the miniseries Blackbird. Now I have a new show out on AppleTV+ called Smoke. AMA!
Hi Reddit! I’m Dennis Lehane and this is my first time doing an AMA. Excited to be here and answer some questions about filmmaking, books, television, and our new drama-thriller miniseries with Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett called Smoke on AppleTV+. I’ll be checking in from 11:00am-12:30pm PST tomorrow. See you soon.
And here are some questions that redditors have posted ahead of time:
- Ajb_ftw: What do you think has been the most faithful adaptation of your artistic vision?
- Rodan_: Did you get frustrated with the publicity for Smoke revealing so much of the plot?
- tekkenusers: What’s some TV writing advice that’s best ignored?
- StanTheManInBK: Is an hotdog a sandwich?
The AMA session will take place at r/Television, beginning at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET, and will last about 90 minutes. If you’re a Lehane fan or have always wanted to ask someone in the know about that moment in Shutter Island, this is your chance.
Watch Smoke now on Apple TV+.
Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Ted Lasso, Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
