Yesterday, Apple announced a “special experience” for March 4 at 9 a.m. ET, inviting members of the press to New York, London, and Shanghai.

The question right now is what format this “special experience” and the associated product announcements will take.

John Gruber posited the following idea as part of a “spitball” in a post on Daring Fireball this evening:

What strikes me is that March 4 — the “experience” day — is a Wednesday. So my spitball guess is that they announce all these products via Newsroom press releases, day-by-day. Like, say, the iPhone 17e on Monday, new iPad(s) on Tuesday, and new MacBooks on Wednesday. And then the “experience” will be a hands-on thing with in-person demos. Spread the announcements out across a few days, but then have in-person events for members of the media to get a hands-on experience with all of them, station-by-station, without needing to produce an Apple Event keynote film.

Shortly after that story was published, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman took to social media to say: “Gruber’s spitball guess is exactly what I am expecting based on what I’ve heard.”

There also won’t be a “real keynote” as part of this product, according to Gurman.

While it’s certainly possible (likely, even) that Apple will publish short standalone videos for some of these announcements, it seems like there won’t be a traditional live stream of any sort for people to watch from home.

Here are the rumored products coming soon from Apple that could be announced the week of March 2:

Whatever the format of Apple’s announcements, and whatever the announcements actually are, I’ll be in New York City on behalf of 9to5Mac to provide coverage. Stay tuned.
