Asus is teasing a new PC gaming handheld developed in partnership with Microsoft’s Xbox team. A teaser video released Monday suggests it’ll combine the company’s ROG Ally handheld with the Xbox in some mysterious capacity.

The 34-second clip shows the Asus Republic of Gamers’ mascot cooking up the device, teasing faster speeds, marathon stamina, more capacity, and a fresh look.

The clip offers a brief glimpse at the product. But the device is shrouded in shadow, revealing only two joysticks and the outline of the central screen.

Although the teaser is thin on details, users were quick to notice the official Xbox account on X responding to the video clip with the “awkward look monkey puppet” meme, suggesting a Microsoft tie-in.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

Rumors suggest Microsoft has been working with Asus on a PC gaming handheld that’ll feature the Xbox brand. The device is supposed to run Windows, but feature an Xbox-like software interface, making it easy to game on. This includes streaming titles from Xbox’s cloud service.

The upcoming device could help Microsoft fend off the threat of Valve’s popular Steam Deck handheld, which runs SteamOS, a custom version of Linux. Valve has also been expanding SteamOS to third-party handhelds, including one from Lenovo.

Asus didn’t mention a launch date. But Microsoft is also reportedly working on an Xbox gaming handheld slated to arrive in 2027 with the next-generation Xbox.
