BIG Brother’s unprecedented changes to season 27 have been revealed as this year’s stars are being watched by ‘very invasive’ new cameras, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.

Other big shifts to the set and the game are making their debut for the first time in the CBS series’ history.

Big Brother season 27 premiered on Thursday, July 10th, on CBS and introduced 16 brand new houseguests who will compete for the top $750,000 prize.

To make things more interesting, this year, after being on the air for over two decades, producers have made a series of changes that will impact the game.

One of the biggest changes is the overall theme of the Big Brother house, which has been completely redesigned to include a vintage hotel aesthetic.

The new redesign is set to go with this year’s theme, Hotel Mystère, which includes a more interactive set than in years’ past.

For the first time, producers have built in hidden passageways and set up secret rooms that will all come into play as the game goes on.

Other hidden advantages and secret messages will also be sprinkled onto the set for contestants to discover this year.

Additionally, the players will be closer than ever this year as the show reintroduces bunk beds for the first time since season 1 all the way back in 2000.

While the contestants are used to sharing a large room, they typically sleep on their own individual twin or full-size beds.

However, this year, they are stacked on top of each other with condensed rows of bunk beds.

For the first time in the show’s history, they also added cameras inside the bunk beds – so a lens will be filming 24/7 directly above the contestants’ bodies.

The move is already causing a strong reaction from fans – with many saying the new cameras are “too invasive” or “too close for comfort.”

“Ummmmm…..WHY we got this close up view of Mickey in her bed?!!?!  Is this a new camera?!? Feels invasive,” one viewer shared.

“Alright the bunk bed vision is way too close for comfort. Is this really necessary #BB27?!” another asked.

Another big change the show made was adding a proper ceiling inside all of the rooms this year, rather than the exposed roof that shows the studio lighting.

The show wanted to go for more of an “intimate house-like feel” for their cozy, vintage theme this year.

Execs have also shaken up the schedule this season – with Wednesday’s episodes running at 90 minutes long compared to the usual 60-minute showings.

Also, for the first time, this season includes a special “masked visitor,” a “secret accomplice,” and a “Mystery Houseguest” whose identity was initially kept secret but revealed last week on the premiere.

Season 13 winner Rachel Reilly, who took home the title back in 2011, was revealed as the “Mystery Houseguest” on the first episode.

Big Brother Villains

Big Brother has been beloved by reality TV fans since 2000. The show brings together a group of strangers to live in a house, competing in various challenges. Along the way, villains are introduced.

Here’s a look at some of the most prolific villains:

  • Jessie Godderz
  • Aaryn Gries
  • Mike Malin
  • Dick Donato
  • Jackson Michie
  • Justin Sebik
  • Paul Abrahamian
  • Rachel Reilly
  • Will Kirby
  • Dan Gheesling
  • Amanda Zuckerman
  • Jack Mathews
  • Shannon Dragoo
  • Chima Simone
  • Paulie Calafiore
  • Vanessa Rousso
  • Jessica Graf
  • Danielle Reyes
  • Matt Hoffman

Rachel’s entrance certainly made a loud statement and also came with a built-in advantage as a late arrival to the house.

Due to her late arrival, she was placed in the Have-Not room for the week – meaning she received automatic safety and was immune from being voted out – along with three other players she got to choose.

The reality TV veteran is still part of the game and was seen scheming with the other players on the CBS live feeds overnight.

One thing that is not a change this season is longtime host Julie Chen Moonves – who has led the show since it debuted in 2000.

Big Brother airs on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 8 pm EST on CBS.

Live feeds of the Big Brother house are available to watch 24/7 on Paramount+ and online.
