One of the biggest selling points of a Netflix subscription is the diversity of its content. While most streaming services focus exclusively on Hollywood, Netflix flexes global muscle for shows and movies from all over. This week brings a ton of new content for subscribers to stream, and here are my top picks, including the return of an action-packed Korean drama, the new series from Schitt’s Creek co-creator Dan Levy, and a chilling cult documentary series.

This Week on Netflix: PCMag’s Picks

Bloodhounds: Season 2 (April 3)

If you’re looking for a K-drama that also delivers excellent fight choreography, Bloodhounds is moving into a second season this month. The popular series follows a pair of boxers who bond after a fight, and when they come into conflict with a rapacious loan shark, it’ll take more than punching to solve their problems. The second season sees an illegal boxing syndicate roll into Seoul with big promises and bad intentions.

Trust Me: The False Prophet (April 8)

Going undercover in a religious community is a bold move, so we’re already intrigued by Trust Me: The False Prophet. Cult religion expert Christine Marie and her husband, Tolga Katas, moved to the Utah town of Short Creek after Mormon sect leader Warren Jeffs was finally imprisoned for sexual abuse. What they found was a community trying to heal while a new leader, who might be just as bad, was angling to take control. The docuseries goes deep into prophecy, control, and persuasion.

  • Director: Rachel Dretzin

  • Genre: Documentary

  • Rating: TV-MA

Big Mistakes (April 9)

Created by Dan Levy of Schitt’s Creek and Rachel Sennott of Bottoms, this new Netflix series could become a cult hit. In Big Mistakes, Levy and Taylor Ortega play siblings who shoplift a necklace from a jewelry store to give to their grandmother on her deathbed, only to be blackmailed by the mobsters that run the place into a series of increasingly stupid and dangerous errands. Expect hilarious family dynamics and surprisingly high-adrenaline action.
