Boebert to introduce resolution condemning Tesla vehicle attacks

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) introduced a Tuesday resolution condemning violent attacks on Tesla vehicles.

“The definition of terrorism is the unlawful use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims. That is exactly what has been going on across the country at Tesla dealerships, and it is what innocent Americans who chose Tesla as their preferred vehicle are facing in the wake of violence from Radical Left-Wing domestic terrorists who hate President Donald Trump and Elon Musk,” Boebert said of the write-up.

Her comments come as Attorney General Pam Bondi has pledged to prosecute individuals damaging Tesla property with charges for domestic terrorism amid an uptick in participants forged together through the “Tesla Takedown” movement which encourages people to divest in company stock and sell their vehicles.

The organization urged hundreds of demonstrators to undertake protests on Saturday, which was deemed a “Global Day of Action” against CEO Elon Musk, who led federal spending cuts spurred by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

In response to those measures, GOP Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Rep. Byron Donalds (Fla.), Rep. Brandon Gill (Texas), Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (Fla.), Rep. Nancy Mace (S.C.), Rep. Barry Moore (Ala.), Rep. Troy Nehls (Texas), Rep. Andy Ogles (Tenn), and Rep. Greg Steube (Fla.) have signed on to co-sponsor Boebert’s resolution.

The Colorado lawmaker is now urging Democrats to show support for her efforts to condemn destructive behaviors.

“My House Resolution will make clear where all Members of Congress stand: do they condemn domestic terrorism against Tesla, or do they endorse it completely,” Boebert said.

“The American people deserve to know where their representatives stand when it comes to condemning domestic terrorism,” she added.

Violence against Tesla products has sparked international concerns, forcing the Vancouver Auto Show to pull the car brand from its exhibition while police officers in New York remain in search of two men caught etching the word “Nazi” and a swastika onto the side of a car parked locally.

Boebert highlighted both incidents in her resolution.

“It’s really unfortunate. The real problem is not the people — it’s not like the crazy guy that firebombs a Tesla dealership. It’s the people pushing the propaganda that cause that guy to do it,” Musk said of the backlash.

“Those are the real villains here and we’re gonna go after them,” he added, affirming President Trump’s intent to stop harm to Tesla.
