The more the weeks pass, the more the tension becomes palpable for shooter fans. After Battlefield 6 et Arc Raiders which are already in full swing, players are preparing to discover the next Call of Duty Black Ops 7, scheduled for November 14.
But the release of a new episode of Call of Duty (any game) always comes with the same question: can we play it before the official date? With Black Ops 7the community hopes to be able to benefit from early access, as is often the case for major productions of the moment. Unfortunately, this time we will have to wait until the deadline, when the game will be released on all platforms simultaneously.
No early access this year
Contrary to Modern Warfare 3 or other recent titles from the Activision catalog, Black Ops 7 will not offer any early accessneither for the single-player campaign, nor for multiplayer, nor for the highly anticipated Zombies mode. The information was officially confirmed by Activision, then relayed by the site CharlieIntel. Rumors of a possible early access period, fueled in particular by leaks and discussions on specialized forums, have therefore been completely denied.
This decision may come as a surprise, especially since the early access model has established itself in recent years as an effective commercial strategy. It often helps encourage pre-orders and reward the most impatient fans, while selling the deluxe and premium versions of titles as much as possible. Activision seems to have wanted to put everyone on an equal footing by offering a unique global launch. It is also a way of better managing communication and avoiding any risk of leaks before the fateful date, a particularly sensitive issue for a game as eagerly awaited as Call of Duty Black Ops 7.
An exit under close surveillance
Leaks have often tarnished previous launches of the license, particularly those around Modern Warfare 2 et Black Ops Cold War. Treyarch and Activision therefore seem to want to lock upstream access as much as possible, even if it means frustrating the most dedicated players. This choice is also part of a desire to strengthen server security and guarantee a consistent experience from day one, whether on console or PC.
If you want to prepare for launch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be offered in two main editions. The Cross-Gen Bundle edition, sold for around €80, allows play on two generations of consoles, while the Weapon Chest edition (around €110) includes various digital bonuses, including exclusive weapon blueprints, new operators and customization elements for multiplayer.
