HMD Global appears to be gearing up for the launch of its second-generation Vibe smartphone. According to recent reports, the HMD Vibe 2 has surfaced in leaks and is shaping up to be a solid upgrade over its predecessor. With meaningful improvements in performance, display, and camera hardware, it’s looking like a strong contender for budget-conscious users.
Under the hood, the Vibe 2 is expected to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. This new processor should be more powerful than the Snapdragon 680 found in the previous model, making the vibe more efficient and a better overall performer.
Coming to the design and look of the phone, HMD seems to be sticking with a modern and minimal aesthetic. On the front, users can expect a 6.67-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and HDR10 support. That’s a big leap forward from the original Vibe’s 6.55-inch 720p LCD panel and the upgrade should offer sharper visuals and much smoother scrolling.
For the camera, the HMD Vibe 2 is rumoured to feature a 50 MP front-facing shooter which is a massive leap over the basic 5MP selfie cam on the original. This upgrade should give entry-level users a solid taste of high-resolution selfies. On the rear, HMD is sticking with a dual-camera setup, featuring a 50MP primary sensor and a secondary 2MP lens, likely for depth sensing or macro photography.
The HMD Vibe 2 also gets a solid upgrade in the battery department, packing a 5,000mAh cell with support for 33W wired charging. That’s a noticeable step up from the original Vibe’s 4,000mAh battery and sluggish 10W charging speeds.
While pricing and release details are still under wraps, the upgrades suggest HMD is aiming to deliver a well-rounded entry-level phone. This also means we might see a slight bump in pricing. With leaks revealing key details, an official announcement from the company could be just around the corner.
