China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Monday published a proposed roster for a new Standardisation Technical Committee for Humanoid Robots, naming 65 members. Unitree Robotics founder Wang Xingxing and ZhiYuan Robotics co-founder Peng Zhihui were appointed deputy chairs. Senior executives from Huawei, ZTE and XPeng, as well as scholars from Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, were also included on the committee. The body will oversee the development of national standards for humanoid robots, covering basic frameworks, safety, core technologies and application requirements, as Beijing pushes to regulate and accelerate the emerging sector.
