Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO has upped its employee total by 800 sales workers in a month, drawing in many from the Chinese dealerships of Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, Yang Bo, head of NIO’s user operations, posted on Weibo on Aug. 7. Yang added that NIO, including its luxury brand and mainstream Onvo division, is on a hiring spree to support its growth ambitions, as the redesigned NIO ES8, the company’s earliest production model, is set to launch next month. The news comes as the Shanghai-based EV maker saw more than 10,000 new reservations in the past week, Sun Shaojun, founder of consumer behavior research agency CarFans, said on Weibo on Monday. NIO, together with its Onvo and firefly lineups, delivered 135,167 vehicles in the first seven months of this year, falling behind rivals Xpeng Motors and Li Auto.
