With agentic AI now in the rapid implementation phase, companies are turning toward leveraging it for tangible business impact. A standout use-case partnership has emerged from SentinelOne Inc. and Workato Inc., that is poised to streamline the complex “configure, price, quote” process with the help of CPQ Genie.
SentinelOne’s Al Linke discusses CPQ Genie with theCUBE.
The result? Faster sales cycles, new efficiency gains and a broader cultural embrace of agentic automation, according to Al Linke (pictured), AVP of enterprise applications and business engagement at SentinelOne.
“We had this idea, ‘Hey, why can’t gen AI help with CPQ quoting?’” Linke said. “I got a lot of pushback initially from certain groups in the company who didn’t think we could do it. Wanting a challenge, I said, ‘Hey, I think we can.’ I called some of my buddies at Workato because we’d been a Workato shop for about a year, but we hadn’t done any agentic stuff and they just jumped in with us.”
Linke spoke with theCUBE’s Savannah Peterson and Rob Strechay at the WOW: World of Workato event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, News Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed agentic AI as a long-term enabler of business agility. (* Disclosure below.)
CPQ Genie streamlines business operations
CPQ has long been a pain point for enterprises, bogged down by manual processes, custom Salesforce environments and inefficiencies that slow down revenue operations. Initially met with skepticism, Linke and his team set out to prove that generative AI could make quoting faster and easier. Within four months, SentinelOne and Workato co-developed the CPQ Genie — a tool designed to cut quote times in half, according to Linke.
“I think there’s this feeling that, ‘Okay, just throw some AI out there and everything will magically be perfect,’” he said. “We all know, as IT professionals, that’s just not reality. Just like any IT project, you must spend time with the stakeholders and get their feedback.”
The early success with CPQ Genie has sparked momentum across departments. The HR team has embraced a career-coaching Genie to enhance performance reviews, while IT is piloting an IT-license Genie to automate license management and reduce costs. These projects show how agentic AI can scale from core processes to broader organizational workflows, Linke added.
