THE DALLAS Cowboys have been rocked by more concerning news over Micah Parsons’ contract.

The linebacker’s future remains up in the air as he requested a trade earlier this month.

The Cowboys’ general manager Jerry Jones has not rushed to offer Parsons a new contract.

Parsons, 26, is heading into the fifth year of his rookie contract, which will see him earn $24million.

The four-time Pro Bowler is seeking a $200MILLION deal contract to extend his stay in Texas,

A five-year deal of that size would see him become the best-paid non-quarterback in the history of the NFL.

But it appears that there will be no conclusion just yet as the Cowboys drag their heels.

ESPN’s Todd Archer has claimed that Parsons has not been wearing his practice jersey, which can indicate his feelings at the moment.

He wrote: “At the start of camp, Parsons said he was dealing with back tightness, and last week he was getting treatment.

“It was notable when he did not wear his practice jersey after making the trade request.

“That’s as big of an indicator as you’re going to get in these hold-in situations.

“There have been no substantive discussions from the two sides at all, and it appears the Cowboys are at least willing to open the season with Parsons playing on the fifth-year option.

“After that? There is always the possibility of using the franchise tag on Parsons in 2026.”

Parsons has been acting in good faith thus far as he has attended the team’s minicamp and training camp this summer.

Jones, 82, has dealt with players making similar requests for new deals.

He recently managed to secure the services of CeeDee Lamb for a further four years on a contract extension worth $136m.
