Too much, too full

Big headline, three to five bullet points and a nice picture next to it. Well, things are getting better.

More is more? No, the saying “less is more” always proves true when it comes to presentations. Not every piece of information you want to convey has to be on the slides. Remember that the focus is on you as the speaker, not your presentation. This is only intended to highlight the most important figures and facts. It’s enough if there’s just a single word on the slide – the rest then follows via the audio track.

A presentation is not a handout

Do you want to save time and create presentations that you can print out and use as a handout? Leave it alone, in the best case scenario you will have a well-designed handout but a poor lecture presentation. In contrast to the handout, this should be quick and easy to understand, clearly focus on the core statements and prepare well for a possible decision. Too much content confuses your audience and distracts them. The handout, on the other hand, should consolidate memories and clarify detailed questions.

Go crazy with the color palette

Avoid an uncontrolled mix of colors, your corporate design is not a democracy, but a legitimate requirement to present your company uniformly internally and externally. More than two or three different colors appear restless and prevent the presentation from appearing as one piece.

I like to move it, move it

It shimmers and flutters and every animation that Powerpoint offers is tried out? An absolute no-go that you should definitely avoid. Your listeners’ eyes will be happy!
