BRITS are struggling to get their hands on a hot new iPhone model that’s flying off the shelves.

Apple is now listing delays of up to three weeks on shipping for a coveted entry to the 2025 iPhone line-up.

Earlier this year, Apple unveiled four new phones: the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Each is pricier than the last, with the high-end iPhone 17 Pro Max coming in at a lofty starting price of £1,199.

The ultra-svelte iPhone Air – just 5.6mm at its thinnest point – captured all of the headlines at the September event.

But it’s the posh iPhone 17 Pro Max that retailers are now running out of stock for.

The iPhone Air is listed as “in stock” on the Apple website and is available for immediate delivery.

And the iPhone 17 Pro can be bagged in “three to five business days”.

But if you want an iPhone 17 Pro Max, you’ll need to wait up to 10 business days.

And if you’re looking for the upgraded 512GB storage variant in the eye-catching new Cosmic Orange colour option, Apple says you’ll need to wait “two to three weeks”.

That’ll set you back £1,399, so it’s hardly a cheap model.

But it’s a similar story at retailers, suggesting that the stock issues are nationwide.

John Lewis is letting you pre-order the iPhone 17 Pro Max for delivery from November 21 – in Cosmic Orange with 512GB of storage.

And it’s totally out of Silver in that spec too.

If you want the base model, John Lewis warns that pre-orders are totally sold out, and doesn’t have any available units in any colour.

Argos also appears to be having issues. The Sun couldn’t find any units available in central London.

And Currys has an alert on its website for the iPhone 17 Pro Max noting “Sorry, this item is currently out of stock” on every single option.

It means shoppers will be on the hunt for the top model in the run up to Christmas and the holiday shopping period.

“‘Tis the season of Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max,” said expert analyst Paolo Pescatore, speaking to The Sun.

“It is a unique combination that empowers users with a sense of control and accomplishment.

“A perfect choice for those seeking to upgrade from one of the other variants from previous generations who want more from a device.

“And be future-proof ahead of a revamped Apple Intelligence, with an updated version of Siri earmarked for next year.”

GOING PRO

The iPhone 17 Pro Max is the most powerful of this year’s Apple smartphone line-up.

It comes in three colour options: Silver, Cosmic Orange, and Deep Blue.

And you can get it with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and a new 2TB storage, which costs £1,999.

The gadget sports a large 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, the biggest on any iPhone.

And it’s powered by Apple’s new A19 Pro chip, which is a brand new processor built by the company’s for this year’s premium iPhone lot.

Apple also says that the gadget serves up a mammoth 37 hours of video playback on UK models.

And while it’s a pricey model, there are still cheaper iPhone options for Apple fans on a budget.

“The new and much-improved iPhone lineup looks impressive, putting it in a strong position to cater to different segments,” Paolo, of PP Foresight, told us.

“Significantly, there is an iPhone for everybody at a reasonable price.

“We now finally have a sense of the most sought-after features among iPhone users and potential trade-offs.

“While the iPhone Air grabs all the headlines, people are happy to pay a bit more and get much more.

“Ultimately, this new line-up brings a much-needed sense of newness to the iPhone, which has remained the same for too long.

“This, in itself, provides excitement among Apple’s loyal iPhone base, and we are now seeing this reflected in supply constraints.

“Apple is forecasting the best December quarter ever as it meets that demand.”
