DELTA chiefs have made a series of upgrades to its aircraft cabins – and customers have noticed the changes.

Passengers have been left pleasantly surprised when they’ve boarded their planes.

In 2024, bosses unveiled plans to update the appearance of cabins across its entire fleet as part of the carrier’s 100th anniversary.

Chiefs said they planned to modernize the interiors of Boeing 757 and Airbus A350 planes, but customers have noticed upgrades to other aircraft.

One traveler claimed some of the carrier’s A321Neo aircraft had been fitted with a more comfortable seat.

They noticed the change during a flight from San Francisco to Boston, according to a Reddit thread.

“While I can’t say it was luxurious—it wasn’t like being back on a 747—it was definitely far thicker and softer than the others I’ve encountered,” they said.

The traveler claimed they didn’t need to use an inflatable cushion, which they said they had to on previous occasions.

On an Airbus A321 plane, there are 42 Delta Comfort seats, while in the first class section there are 20

Another said online they were “pleasantly surprised” when they boarded the first-class section of their 737-800 plane.

Travelers have said they’re impressed by the appearance of the first class seats.

“They certainly look cool, the meal trays are nice and sturdy, and there’s better than average storage space compared to the old style,” one said.

But, they expressed concerns about passengers reclining.

Other travelers said the new seats looked awesome and one wondered if there was a way to spot if planes had been retrofitted.

Delta chiefs announced changes would be made to plane cabins and bosses hailed the move.

“Delta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customer’s travel,” Mauricio Parise, the vice president of Customer Experience Design, said in a statement.

IMPROVING ATMOSPHERE

Parise continued to say updating cabins would help create a fresh and timeless atmosphere.

Bosses also revealed that cushions used on widebody planes would be made from breathable memory foam.

And, customers who take advantage of Delta One services would be able to relax in breathable fabric seats.

Cabins will also be fitted with mood-lighting and bosses say they want to give off the impression they are eating a candlelit dinner during meal times.

Bosses say that aircraft will continue to be modernized over the coming years.

Delta is not the only carrier that’s announced plans to modernize interiors.

In May, United bosses revealed its new Boeing 787-9 planes will feature two business class suites.

And, the first passenger flights using the enhanced aircraft will take place in 2026 from San Francisco to Singapore, and San Francisco to London.

The U.S. Sun has reported how Southwest bosses announced a change to its open-seating policy.

The end of open-seating will encourage travelers to book their seats before they turn up at the airport.

Travelers who don’t pre-book seats will be assigned one before they fly.

But, this policy has sparked controversy, with some threatening to fly with Delta as a consequence.

The U.S. Sun has approached Delta for comment.
