BRITS face paying more for Disney+ in just days as the TV app gets a surprise price hike.

A major change to Disney+ subscriptions will see some Brits billed £10 more each year.

Currently Brits can pay £4.99 a month for Disney+ with ads, £8.99 a month for Standard without ads, or £12.99 a month for Premium.

But there are two annual Disney+ plans. One is the Premium Annual option for £129.90 a year, which saves you £25.98 versus paying monthly.

And the other is Standard Annual, which costs £89.90 a year – a £17.98 saving compared to monthly payments.

Now Disney+ is set to increase the price of the Standard Annual plan in days.

The new price will be £99.90, which is £10 higher than the old mark-up.

So the yearly saving drops to just £7.89 compared to paying monthly.

The price change has been revealed on the Disney+ homepage, which is currently showing a promotional image that details the hike in the small print.

Disney notes: “The price of the annual Standard Plan will increase to £99.90 from September 30, 2025.”

It’s possible that the prices of other plans may also increase in line with the annual fee rise.

However, the promotion doesn’t make mention of any other price rises.

The Sun has asked Disney+ for comment and will update this story with any response.

AVOID THE BILL HIKE

The good news is that there’s a way to avoid the price increase.

Disney says Brits have a “last chance” to lock in the old 12-month pricing by signing up by September 29.

After that, you’ll be forced to pay the new higher price.

But if you sign up before September 30, you can get the old price for a full year – until it renews at the increased pricing.

TV RIVALS

By comparison, Netflix currently charges £12.99 for its Standard without Ads plan.

There’s no annual option, but the 12-month membership comes to £155.88 over the course of a year.

And Amazon Prime (which includes Prime Video among other perks) costs £8.99 a month (equivalent to £107.88) – or you can pay a one-off £95 annual fee.

HOW MUCH DOES AMAZON PRIME COST?

Here’s a breakdown of all the pricing options…

  • Prime monthly (£8.99 monthly) – £107.88 a year
  • Prime annual – £95 a year
  • Prime Video (£5.99 monthly) – £71.88 a year
  • Prime 18-22/student (£4.49 monthly) – £53.88 a year
  • Prime 18-22/student annual – £47.49 a year
  • Prime 18-22/student monthly + 6-month free trial – £26.94 for first year
  • Prime 18-22/student annual + 6-month free trial – £23.75 for first year

It means that before the price hike, Disney+ comes in cheaper than both of its rivals.

But the new pricing will make it slightly more expensive than Amazon Prime.
