The video game onslaught is upon us. This year has seen a steady stream of great video game releases, but October adds even more exciting titles for the Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Ghost of Yotei is one such title. This successor to the superb Ghost of Tsushima enhances the action with new weapon-swapping mechanics and a better integration of quests with exploration. On the other hand, if you’re hungry for multiplayer action, check out ARC Raiders, a post-apocalyptic player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) extraction shooter.

Read on to see what else October has in store. Check out other gaming options in our best PC games roundup, and swing by our 2025 video game calendar to see what other titles are coming down the pipe later this year.

Ghost of Yotei

In Ghost of Yotei, you play as Atsu, a mercenary who avenges her family’s murder in 17th-century Japan. The action-adventure title refines and expands Ghost of Tsushima’s foundation, replacing its predecessor’s stance-based system with a focus on multiple weapons and introducing a more open-ended approach to exploration and questing.

Battlefield 6

  • Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S

  • Release Date: Oct. 5, 2025

  • Rating: M

Battlefield 6 is a return to form for the series, promising a classic class-based experience—a breath of fresh air following the somewhat tepid reaction to Battlefield 2042’s hero-like, specialist gameplay. The single-player campaign is a modern military thriller set in the near future, following an elite squad of US Marine Raiders as they confront Pax Armata, a private military corporation that exploits a power vacuum created by a splintered NATO.

Little Nightmares III

  • Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

  • Release Date: Oct. 10, 2025

  • Rating: T

The macabre Little Nightmares returns this October with a sequel that delivers more puzzle-platform horror and online, cooperative gameplay—a first for the series. It follows two new child protagonists, Low and Alone, as they work together to escape from the nightmarish world of the Nowhere.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A

  • Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2

  • Release Date: Oct. 16, 2025

  • Rating: E10

The Pokémon series enters its next evolution with Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This action-RPG is set entirely within Lumiose City, the capital of the Kalos region and a harmonious metropolis for both humans and Pokémon. The game brings back Mega Evolutions and introduces a new, real-time battle system, a departure from the series’ traditional turn-based combat.
