Ireland’s ASD offers customs declaration software solutions for logistics service providers (LSPs) and shippers, as well as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solutions that help the aviation logistics industry track assets. The company’s Thyme-IT customs declaration solution helps importers, exporters and LSPs meet Irish import and export regulatory requirements in a secure and efficient manner. In addition, ASD RFID solutions help global airlines and ground handlers eliminate manual tasks and more efficiently comply with various aviation regulations through unique identification, tagging and asset tracking.
Manage entire shipment lifecycle
“Descartes’ Global Logistics Network (“GLN”) is designed to help shippers, carriers and LSPs connect and collaborate to manage the entire shipment lifecycle,” said Ken Wood, EVP Product Management at Descartes. “This combination with ASD is highly complementary to our current product offering. ASD adds deep Irish customs expertise and a modern multi-country customs technology platform. We also see great synergies for the airlines by combining ASD’s RFID-based solutions with the CORE BLE real-time tracking platform from Descartes.”
“As customers increasingly look to bring more business processes to a single provider, we continue to add solutions to the GLN,” said Edward J. Ryan, CEO of Descartes. “ASD shares a common vision to serve the global logistics community of shippers, carriers and LSPs. We are excited to welcome ASD’s employees, customers and partners to the Descartes family.”
ASD’s headquarters are located in Dublin, Ireland. Descartes will pay approximately 57 million euros ($61 million) for ASD, with 54 million euros paid in cash. Descartes expects to complete the acquisition in the fourth quarter of 2025.
