After automobiles and aerospace, Elon Musk is investing in a new sector in 2022. The boss of Tesla and Space X bought Twitter from the hands of Jack Dorsey, constrained and forced by American justice. Since this much-discussed transaction, the businessman has been working to transform the social network which will soon celebrate its 20th anniversary. New visual identity, new name and the arrival of a paid plan, the little blue bird is transformed and that obviously doesn’t please everyone. But Musk has never hidden his ambitions for the platform, which he wants to the epicenter of consumption habits of its users.
And the video still represents a minimal slice shared content, the boss has every intention of putting them back in the spotlight. It must be said that the possibility of publishing long formats is among the features that could motivate users who do not pay to upgrade to the Premium plan. However, despite its efforts, long-form video continues to be in the minority. Elon Musk thus found the solution to his problem: the creation of a dedicated application.
Between TikTok and YouTube
A few days ago, X defined the outlines of his new project called X TV. Like the YouTube or Dailymotion applications offered on TVs, it relies on drop-down menus, precisely two. The first will evolve around recommendations based on users’ subscribers while the second will compile the videos tendency. Thanks to machine-learning tools, the algorithms are also capable of classify content according to their themes. The firm is also announcing a cross-platform experience, it will be possible to start watching on your phone and continue it on the TV application.
For the moment, the launch date has not been made official. Company CEO Linda Yaccarino says teams are working still in its conception. X nevertheless promises that its deployment will be massive, that it will concern most connected televisions. Note that to mark this upcoming launch, X has established partnerships with creators. This will be an opportunity to provide content and attract the attention of the communities concerned. The fact remains that some of the projects fell through, like the show developed by Don Lemon which was to be at the heart of this launch. After an interview which obviously did not please the businessman, the former presenter of CNN was thanked. Other programs are nevertheless in the drawers.
