Direct Energy offers electricity, natural gas, and home services across the US and Canada.

The company is offering a flexible and affordable electricity plan to consumers looking to save money on their monthly bills.

Homeowners and renters who opt for Direct Energy’s Free Weekends offer can score – as the name implies – free electricity every weekend.

Customers under this plan will receive electricity free of charge from 6 pm on Fridays to 11:59 pm on Sundays.

This adds up to over 100 days of free power every year.

Direct Energy users can optimize their plan by saving high-energy consumption activities for the weekends.

For example, customers on the Free Weekends plan can reserve their washer, dryer, and dishwasher use for the weekends, charge their phone, laptop, and car with free electricity, and enjoy a movie marathon on the weekends.

It’s a great option for those who meal prep, do chores, or host parties on the weekends.

Prospective customers can sign up to Direct Energy’s Free Power Weekends 24 Auto Pay plan in three easy steps:

  1. Enter your zip code
  2. Select Free Power Weekends 24 Auto Pay

When customers sign up for an electricity plan, they will be able to select the day they start service.

Direct Energy users can typically start their service within seven business days.

This offer is valid only for new residential customers in Texas.

DOWN TO THE DETAILS

Aside from free power, Direct Energy customers can enjoy a handful of other perks.

For example, shoppers can score a discount on their energy plan when they sign up for autopay.

Because the offer is a fixed-rate plan, Direct Energy customers can avoid price spikes and secure a competitive fixed rate for 24 months.

Consumers can save even more money by referring a friend to Direct Energy and earning a $50 bill credit each time they sign up on a term plan using your referral code.

Plus, via the company’s free Reduce Your Use program, Direct Energy customers can use their smart thermostats to conserve energy and potentially save more on their bills when electricity demand is high.

Direct Energy’s Reduce Your Use Program

When electricity demand is high, Direct Energy’s Reduce Your Use program uses a customer’s smart thermostat to help them conserve energy and potentially save money.

The program is free and easy-to-join, and customers receive a $25 bill credit just for signing up.

The Reduce Your Use program works through a simple process:

  1. Customers sign up to voluntarily conserve energy when electricity demand is high
  2. Electricity demand increases due to weather or other events
  3. A Reduce Your Use event is called and registered smart thermostats will automatically adjust
  4. Reduced usage helps conserve energy during periods of high demand

Those who sign up to the program will receive an instant $25 bill credit.

Direct Energy users can also take advantage of the digital tools they are provided to help understand and manage their home energy usage.

They can view their weekly, monthly, or yearly energy use or even see a breakdown by appliance to determine exactly where they could use less electricity.

Another energy company is offering Americans nine hours of “zero cost” electricity every day – just check the clock.
