Harlan Coben has published countless bestsellers, selling over 80 million copies worldwide. In 2018, he began a partnership with Netflix to turn his books into miniseries. “Run Away” launched this month, becoming the newest addition, and we’ve all been raving about it. It’s most likely benefited the production that Coben remains involved in some capacity, even serving as an executive producer for some, including the latest series.

You aren’t alone if you can’t get enough of Coben’s books and the accompanying TV shows. If you can’t resist his particular brand of mystery thrills, we’ve identified every Harlan Coben show you can watch on the best streaming services, ranked by their current Rotten Tomatoes score.

Note: Some Harlan Coben shows on this list don’t have a Rotten Tomatoes critics score; in these cases, we’ve used the audience score instead.

14. ‘Gone for Good’ (2021)

Watch On

At the foot of the ranking is “Gone for Good”, which has a 36% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series takes place in Nice, France. Guillaume Lucchesi stars as Finnegan Oldfield, a man now in his thirties who lost the people closest to him during his youth: his brother and a former girlfriend. His most pressing concern, though, is that it’s the day of his mother’s funeral. His girlfriend joins him until she is called off on a case. She doesn’t leave until Finnegan asks her to marry him, and she replies that she will always love him. Yet, when he returns home, all of her stuff is gone.

Finnegan goes on a mission to find out what happened to his fiancée and brother. You can also expect a lot of flashbacks to the past that eventually connect to the present day. As you would expect, many of the characters have secrets they are hiding, only to be revealed as Finnegan investigates.

13. ‘Hold Tight’ (2022)

Watch On

“Hold Tight” is another Polish-based adaptation of a Coben novel of the same name. It has a humble 35% Rotten Tomatoes rating, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t something to appreciate. Anna and Michal are a happy couple whose son goes missing not too long after his friend, Anna, dies. This sends the entire affluent community into a spiral of doing what they can to protect their own child. As with many of the Coben series, many lies and secrets are exposed in their seemingly perfect little world.

While it can stand alone, this series is a (sort of) sequel to “The Woods”, with Grzegorz Damiecki playing Pawel Kopinski, along with several other recurring characters from that series returning as well. “Hold Tight” didn’t resonate with fans as well as “The Woods,” but it does have the typical Coben touch that die-hards are sure to like.

12. ‘Lazarus’ (2025)

Watch On

Brace yourself, Coben fans, “Lazarus” goes against the grain of his typical mini-series. This one not only premiered on Prime Video instead of Netflix, but – and this is when it gets shocking – it’s also not based on one of his books. However, it doesn’t make it any less intense and complex. Coming in at 44%, the series focuses on Joel “Laz” Lazarus (Sam Claflin), a forensic psychiatrist who returns home following the suicide death of his father.

While at home, he starts to experience unexplainable, unsettling events that lead him to investigate a string of unsolved murders, including the decades-old murder of his twin. With this series comes a healthy dose of the supernatural along with a lot of buried family secrets. Even though it’s not an adaptation of a Coben novel, it has all of his familiar themes, making it a binge-worthy pick.

11. ‘Missing You’ (2025)

MISSING YOU | Official Trailer | Netflix – YouTube

Watch On

“Missing You” comes in with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 50%. It has both a fascinating and complicated premise of a woman. Detective Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) struggles to balance her dating life with her cop career. When a friend encourages her to try out a dating app, she peruses the profiles and stumbles across her former fiancé, Josh Buchanan (Ashley Walters). Trouble is, he disappeared from her life 11 years ago. Even stranger, it happened right around the time her father, Clint (Lenny Henry), had been murdered.

While there may be some aspects of the series that feel a bit hard to accept, and you may be yelling at the character for not seeing a clearer picture, there’s plenty to enjoy. It’s a nice blend of a police procedural with a strong-willed female detective at the lead.

10. ‘Caught’ (2025)

Investigative reporter Ema Garay (Soledad Villamil) spends her days tracking and exposing criminals who manage to evade justice. She’s currently looking to uncover someone who targets teen girls through an online gaming community. As she gets closer, she realizes it’s a trusted community member, putting her own loyalties at risk. Things get even more complicated when a 16-year-old girl goes missing, forcing her to confront where her loyalties lie.

While “Caught” does have a flair of being your standard-issue Coben series, what makes this one stand out is its sweeping, beautiful scenery of Buenos Aires and Bariloche, captured by the excellent cinematography. Plus, the accompanying soundtrack enhances the mystery, making it particularly enthralling.

9. ‘Fool Me Once’ (2024)

Fool Me Once | Official Trailer | Netflix – YouTube
Fool Me Once | Official Trailer | Netflix - YouTube

Watch On

While it might not have the highest Rotten Tomatoes rating (only 72%), “Fool Me Once” is the seventh most-viewed Netflix series of all time. Michelle Keegan stars as Maya Stern, who is grieving the loss of her husband. She installs a nanny cam to keep an eye on her daughter and realizes she spots someone familiar in the footage: her husband, Joe (Richard Armitage). Meanwhile, Maya’s niece and nephew are trying to find out the truth about their mother’s murder.

As you’d expect after watching several Coben series, you can safely assume the two are connected. The question is, of course, how? Plenty of red herrings are sprinkled throughout, and some characters have surprising skill sets, such as Keegan’s ability to take down men twice her size. However, despite a few holes here and there, if you love a good Coben-based show, you will probably find much to enjoy about this one.

8. ‘Safe’ (2018)

Safe Season 1 | Trailer [HD] | Netflix – YouTube

Watch On

We are treated to the acting of Michael C. Hall in the series “Safe.” He plays Tom Delaney, a widowed father whose teen daughter, Jenny (Amy James-Kelly), goes missing. Her boyfriend, Chris (Freddie Thorp), is also gone. He soon finds out she was last seen leaving a party, and one by one, Tom finds out each of his neighbors in the gated community is connected to the case.

What you will have to overlook in the series is Hall’s British accent. If you happen to love him in “Dexter” or “Six Feet Under,” this may be incredibly distracting. Other than that, this is a captivating mini-series that will hold your attention throughout. Much like Coben’s other shows, there are plenty of twists and hidden secrets throughout the eight-episode season.

Rotten Tomatoes score: 71%

7. ‘Run Away’ (2026)

Watch On

“Run Away” is the latest addition to the Coben collection, with a glowing 82 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. James Nesbitt stars as Simon Greene, whose daughter, Paige (Ellie de Lange), has been missing for six months. When he spots her in a park, he launches a desperate search to find her again, leading him to several unsolved murders connected to her disappearance.

Nesbitt shines as the frantic father, while Minnie Driver plays a less emotional but still effective part as the mother. Ruth Jones lights up the screen as the private investigator, Elena Ravenscroft. If there’s a character I’d love to see get a spinoff series, she’s the one. You may have a hard time keeping up with all the subplots and cast of characters (I certainly did), but you’ll remain fully captivated throughout the miniseries.

6. ‘Just One Look’ (2025)

Watch On

“Just One Look” is set in Warsaw, Poland, and stars Maria Debska as Greta Rembiewska, a happily married jeweler with two beautiful children. Her entire life unravels when she discovers a mysterious photo of her husband surrounded by people she doesn’t know. When she asks him about the picture, he quickly takes off, leaving her to solve the mystery at home. It takes time for her to realize that he has been kidnapped and her family’s life is now at risk.

The plot, as it turns out, is far more complicated than you might expect. It’s a plot-heavy show filled with plenty of twists and turns. You’ll soon discover that Greta’s past is somehow connected to her husband’s kidnapping. With six 45-minute episodes, it’s a series you can easily binge in a weekend.

5. ‘The Stranger’ (2020)

Watch On

Imagine someone approaching you and saying that your spouse has a secret. Once you hear it, you can’t unknow what you’ve just learned, changing everything you thought about your own life. That’s the premise behind the series “The Stranger.” In a bar, a strange woman (Hannah John-Kamen) tells Adam Price (Richard Armitage) that his wife, Corrine (Dervla Kirwan), is hiding something. Later, he finds proof and is ready to confront his wife. Except she never comes home.

Yet, that’s not the only secret being revealed by the stranger in this series. This mysterious figure manages to upend almost everyone’s life in the small town. At the same time, detectives are investigating the death of a young boy found in the woods alongside a decapitated alpaca after a party. You’ll just have to watch the show to discover how they are connected.

4. ‘Shelter’ (2023)

Watch On

If you love supernatural young adult shows, you’ll want to check out “Shelter,” which has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 88%. It focuses on high school junior Mickey Bolitar (Jaden Michael), who moved to Kasselton, New Jersey, four months after his father’s death to live with his aunt, Shira (Constance Zimmer). He ends up becoming friends with Ashley Kent (Samantha Bugliaro), who also just moved to town. When she goes missing, he becomes embroiled in the case.

This show has many twists and turns and ranges from horror to drama to even a bit of romance. Unfortunately, the series concluded with a major cliffhanger and was not renewed for a second season. However, it does have a fanbase, as shown by a petition requesting another season, so here’s hoping Netflix picks it up.

Rotten Tomatoes score: 88%

3. ‘The Woods’ (2020)

The Woods | Official Trailer | Netflix – YouTube

Watch On

Next is “The Woods,” a Polish mini-series with an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series begins with now-prosecutor Pawel Kopiński (Grzegorz Damiecki), telling how his life changed in the summer of 1994 when his sister, Kamila, and another boy went missing while at camp and two bodies were found dead the next night. She was never found. 25 years later, he’s called to identify a body and recognizes it as the boy who went missing with his sister.

The story of what happened that night and Pawel’s continuing search for his sister unfold in parallel timelines. The series didn’t remain utterly faithful to the book as the setting changed to Warsaw, Poland. However, that minor point aside, this series will captivate you the moment you start episode one.

2. ‘Stay Close’ (2021)

Watch On

With a 92% Rotten Tomatoes rating, “Stay Close” is a British mystery series that you’ll probably want to binge in one sitting, if not over the course of the weekend. Based on the book of the same name, it tells the story of three people who are hiding dark secrets: Megan (Cush Jumbo) is a mother of three trying to keep her past job in the past, Ray (Richard Armitage) is a talented photographer stuck in a dead-end job, and Michael (James Nesbitt) is a detective still troubled by an unsolved case of a man that went missing years ago. When another man goes missing 17 years to the day, Michael takes the case, which impacts the lives of all three characters.

There are a lot of strange characters in this mini-series, all of whom you’ll suspect at some point of being connected to the crime.

1. ‘The Innocent’ (2021)

The Innocent | Official Trailer | Netflix – YouTube

Watch On

The miniseries “The Innocent” tops this list with a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Part of Coben’s deal was that he would create these series in various countries, as he told Variety. This one is a Spanish-language series directed by Oriol Paulo that focuses on Mateo (Mario Casas), who attempts to play peacemaker in a bar fight, but this results in an accidental homicide. Years later, he’s trying to start his life over and rebuild his relationship with his wife, Olivia (Aura Garrido). When he receives a phone call that upends everything, it sends him on the path to find the truth.

This series will captivate you almost immediately. You get to see each character’s perspective, which enhances the richness of the plot.
