While the GIMP 3.2 release is expected out soon, GIMP 3.0.8 is available tonight as what could end up being the last set of bug fixes for GIMP 3.0.
GIMP 3.0.8 back-ports faster font loading as a change originally found for GIMP 3.2. GIMP 3.0.8 will see better font loading performance at start time for those with large numbers of fonts.
GIMP 3.0.8 also brings other fixes such as for WebP exporting, Windows and macOS specific issues, improved SVG import code, some theme and UX fixes, and also several security fixes. The security fixes as usual in the GIMP world revolve around their file format plug-ins.
For developers there are also a few new APIs back-ported from GIMP 3.2 to GIMP 3.0.8.
More details on the many GIMP 3.0.8 fixes and other changes via GIMP.org. Upstream Linux builds of GIMP continue to be available in AppImage, Flatpak, and Snap formats.
The GIMP developers are now working to take care of their last few issues before starting the GIMP 3.2 release series.
