Climate impact specialist investor Elbow Beach will be working with clean tech founders from Imperial College London as part of a joint programme to advance the sector.

The partnership will see the investment firm work with the Grantham Institute, a climate change focused research facility at the university and the Dyson School of Design and Engineering.

Through specialised lectures and workshops, Elbow Beach will support clean tech founders, offering insight into the considerable commercial challenges of the sector and how a viable climate-focused tech product can be launched.

“Supporting the next generation of clean tech innovators and founders is a key part of our mission,” said Elbow Beach chief executive Jonathan Pollock.

“We look forward to sharing our expertise to equip students with the skills to translate emerging clean tech concepts into commercially viable, scalable solutions that can tackle real-world industry challenges.”

The programme will conclude in Spring 2026 with a pitch day in which students will present their final projects to Elbow Beach’s investment directors.

The most promising and investable project will receive an award as well as prize funding for development.

“Elbow Beach will bring invaluable real-world investment experience to the MSc Cleantech Innovation programme,” said Anne Houston, director of education at the Grantham Institute.

“Our students will benefit enormously from the company’s market insight as they develop their own clean tech solutions.”

Earlier this year, Elbow Beach launched an £80m climate tech fund with the goal of backing three dozen green startups.
