Surprisingly missing out on a pre-Halloween streaming release, Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro’s much-anticipated feature-length take on the horror classic Frankenstein finally hits Netflix this week.

A pet project of del Toro’s for 15 years, this big-budget adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel follows the tale of a daring experiment that ultimately results in the undoing of both its creator and his tragic creation. Boasting Oscar Isaac as the freethinking scientist Victor Frankenstein, this latest reanimation of the gothic classic sees Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi take the role of the ultimate movie monster.

The big-name cast also includes Mia Goth on double duty as Victor’s mother and fiancée, while Inglourious Basterds‘ Christoph Waltz plays Heinrich Harlander, the shady funder of Victor’s misbegotten experiment in creating life.

When to watch Frankenstein

This feature-length horror film will be available to stream on Netflix from 3 a.m. ET, midnight PT, on Friday, Nov. 7. You can still watch it in theaters as well, if you prefer the cinema experience.

Netflix raised prices in early 2025, and its monthly plans cost as follows: Standard with ads is $8 per month; ad-free Standard costs $18 per month and Premium, which is also ad-free, runs $25 per month.

Frankenstein is available to stream exclusively on Netflix with any plan. All three Netflix plans include downloads (on two devices for Standard and Standard with ads; six devices for Premium). Some titles are not available on the streamer’s ad-supported plan due to licensing restrictions, and a lock icon will appear when this is the case.
