How To Pre-Order Apple’s New iPad Air M4, iPhone 17e, and MacBook Neo and Air M5

Apple revealed a whole lot of new hardware this week, and we’ve got the scoop on the latest laptops, iPhones, iPads, and more coming your way on March 11 from Cupertino. They’re definitely seeing which way the wind is blowing with skyrocketing silicon prices, introducing budget-priced versions of some of their most popular products, as well as boosted MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops with unbelievable processor power.

Next Wednesday they officially go on sale, but pre-orders are already stacking up, so get yours in now.

Apple MacBook Neo

Having a MacBook has always been a bit of a status symbol, as unlike most other manufacturers, Apple has never released budget loadouts of their laptops. That all changes now, as they’re meeting the financial crisis moment with the most affordable MacBook ever. Priced at just $599, the MacBook Neo brings style and speed to the entry-level laptop market, with four color options: blush, indigo, citrus, and classic silver. Apple’s display dominance continues, with a a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a 2,408-by-1,506 resolution and 500 nits of brightness. Under the hood, you’ll find an A18 Pro CPU (the same one that powers the iPhone 16), 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.

Apple MacBook Air M5

We saw a preliminary rollout of the M5 processor last year for the iPad Pro, Apple Vision Pro, and 14-inch MacBook Pro, and were dazzled by the performance upgrades it delivered. Now we’re seeing two new machines get the system-on-a-chip. From the outside, these look identical to the previous generation, but inside it’s a whole new story. The new MacBook Air models hit an incredible balance between price and power, starting at $1099 for the 13-inch model with the 8-core GPU, but there are multiple upgrades to screen size, processing power, onboard RAM and storage (now up to 4TB) across the line. AI is also a big focus point here, with Apple saying the new system processes prompts 4x faster. We have a head-to-head with the M5 Air and the Neo to see the differencess, but this is guaranteed to be an elite superlight portable.

Apple MacBook M5 Pro

Apple MacBook Pro M5

If you really want to push the envelope, the MacBook Pro M5 is going to be your go-to laptop for years to come. We got a hands-on with this new laptop and were dazzled by the performance of the new M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, which leverage a new kind of silicon packaging to separate the CPU and GPU dies while still making them work through Fusion interconnection. What this means in practice is that both chips can access the neural accelerators that power advanced AI features for lightning-fast performance with more efficiency: Apple is saying that the Pro’s battery life will consistently exceed 24 hours on a single charge. Throw in boosted storage (even the base model starts at 1TB, with 14.5GBps read/write speeds) and you’ve got a stellar machine for the new generation.

Apple iPhone 17e

6.1-inch display, A19 CPU, 256GB storage, 48MP, 12MP cameras

The big news comes on the budget side of the iPhone line, with the new iPhone 17e. Retailing for $599, this mobile boasts a couple improvements over the base 17, most notably the addition of MagSafe charging so you don’t have to fumble with a USB-C cord in the middle of the night, along with double the internal storage (now starting at 256 GB for the most affordable model). It has the same exceptional Super Retina XDR display as the other iPhone 17 models, as well as a slightly smaller A19 processor with four cores. You can read our review of the very similar base iPhone 17 for a full rundown

iPad Air M4

iPad Air M4

We were already impressed by the most recent iPad Air’s upgrade to the M3 processor, saying in our review that it improved over the last iteration in speed, battery life, media playback, and camera performance. Getting another CPU bump a year later means even better performance from the affordable and lightweight slate. The M4 chip was last seen in the 2024 iPad Pro, a workhorse content creation tablet that blew through our benchmarking tests with ease, so porting it over to a more wallet-friendly model is a huge win. We’re also seeing a RAM bump without an accompanying price increase, which is pretty bold in these days of silicon scarcity.

As we learn more about Apple’s upcoming hardware releases, we’ll be adding to this page with preorder information, so check back throughout the day.
