If there is one thing that undermined my morale during my entire Pokopia test, it was seeing that my lifestyle allowed me only to play when night had already fallen in the game. You know that feeling in winter of leaving your house when it’s dark and also coming back after dark? Well, a trick allows you to see a little daylight in the game outside of the dream islands. Also, in Pokémon Pokopia, buildings are built over several hours, crops grow day by day, and certain events only appear on specific dates. Obviously, the temptation to manipulate the Nintendo Switch 2 clock to speed things up is great. So, does it work? And does the game punish you for that?
Moving forward in time in Pokékopia, is it risky?
Moving the clock to a future date goes without a hitch. The game simply assumes that a real day has passed : the crops have grown, the buildings are progressing, the daily challenges and the store are renewed, and you receive a stamp on your loyalty card as if nothing had happened. No Pokémon reacts to your little trick.
Additionally, the current first vent is quite accessible with time travel, showing that going to the future in Pokopia really doesn’t pose any problem.
And then go back in time?
Going back is another story. Pokopia then acts as if you were still playing on the last day you were connected: constructions and crops no longer advance, daily challenges and the store remain frozen in their starting state, and you do not gain a new stamp.
The most important point to remember is that if you go back far enough to go outside the validity period of your current tampon card, that card is reset. And when you go back to the original date, the stamps you had accumulated are not restored. A new card, free of any progress, awaits you.
Other than that, nothing alarming. No disappearance of objects to report, no progress erased and still no reaction from Pokémon.
So, how to time travel on Pokopia?
The manipulation takes less than a minute:
- Save and exit Pokopia
- Close the game from the system menu (X key on the icon)
- Open Switch 2 System Settings
- Go to System, then Date & Time
-

Once your session is over, remember to re-enable automatic synchronization before launching other games. Some titles react very poorly to a manually changed clock.
