Huawei has revealed the latest addition to its Android smartphone lineup, the Huawei Ascend Mate, which features a mammoth 6.1in screen.

This enormous panel means this smartphone has the largest screen in the world, although with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, it is unlikely to prove the most dazzling that will be available over the coming months. Other manufacturers have 1080 x 1920 pixel displays soon coming to market, which seem likely to outperform this one when it comes to quality.

Nonetheless the Ascend Mate is sure to turn heads thanks to its LCD screen’s sheer size and there are a few eye-catching features on its specs list too.

Huawei Ascend Mate Specs
Under the hood the Huawei Ascend Mate will run a 1.5Ghz Hi-Silicon quad-core processor and will have a hefty 4050mAh battery, which should hopefully see it last more than an afternoon. Indeed Huawei claims up to two days usage on a single charge. Helping here are two Huawei technologies called Quick Power Control (QPC) and Automated Discontinuous Reception (ADRX), which both help keep the phone in as low a power state as possible.

From here on in it’s fairly conventional stuff with an 8MP rear camera, a 1MP front camera, a noise cancelling microphone, though an ‘Augmented Reality’ navigation app that helps you find your destination may sway some users.

Huawei Ascend Mate Release Date and Price
The Huawei Ascend Mate will be available in China in February, but there’s no word yet on UK pricing or availability.
