Source @xleaks7 revealed on platform X that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) approved a Huawei patent last month. According to the patent, Huawei proposes using a drive motor to adjust the distance between the camera module and the image sensor, aiming to enhance the zoom performance of telephoto lenses while maintaining a slim smartphone design. Over the past five to six years, the size and protrusion of smartphone camera modules have steadily increased, disrupting the early design aesthetic of flush camera lenses. Huawei’s latest patent offers an innovative solution to reduce camera bump. It suggests improving telephoto zoom capabilities by moving the camera module via a motor to adjust its distance from the image sensor. [IThome, in Chinese]
