Huawei said on Wednesday it will launch its second-generation tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XTs, at an event on Sept. 4. The device is expected to run on the Kirin 9020 (N-1) chip, support Tiantong satellite communication and come with HarmonyOS. Analysts estimate its average retail price at more than RMB 22,000 ($3,000). China’s foldable phone shipments rose 12.6% to 4.98 million units in the first half of 2025, according to IDC. In the first six months of 2025, Huawei led the market with 3.74 million units shipped, accounting for 75% of the total. Since launching its first foldable phone in 2019, Huawei has become the first Chinese brand to surpass 10 million cumulative foldable shipments. [TechNode reporting]
