A TOP-BRAND telly has had its price cut from £489 to just £377 in a tempting online sale.
The TV has a generously sized 55-inch display – and it’s 4K to boot.
The Philips PUS8500/05, as it’s officially known, has been discounted by £112 over at AO.
This particular discount is split into two parts. The first is the non-member discount, which brings the price down to £419 (saving you £70).
And if you’re an AO member, the price drops even further to £377, which is an extra £42 off beyond the starter discount.

An AO membership costs £39.99 a year, but it gets you access to lower member pricing.
But you can claim the initial £70 discount even if you’re not an AO member.
Of course, the member’s discount is worth more than the cost of membership on this particular telly.
As far as the TV goes, it’s a QLED model with a 55-inch panel that supports 4K Ultra HD content.

That means it has more that eight million pixels, and can display UHD telly (from the likes of Netflix or Amazon Prime Video) in its native resolution.
It’s also a HDR TV (including HDR10+) so it supports High Dynamic Range contrast for improved contrast.
This particular Philips set is also an Ambilight model, so it uses LEDs to project the colours of each scene behind the TV.
That means your wall will light up to match whatever is going on in your movie or TV show.
It runs on Titan OS and gets you access to a wide range of streaming services, and it supports Apple AirPlay 2 too.
CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE
If you’re not sure on this giant model – either for pricing or sizing reasons – then you could opt for a smaller alternative.
The same TV is available in five sizes (right up to 85 inches), but the smallest and cheapest option is the 43-inc unit.
This has an official RRP of £369, but it’s down to £299 for non-members.
And AO members can get it for the strikingly low price of £269, which isn’t bad at all.
